XBR (Extra Broad) Measuring

From 1st April 2015, the CAA will prohibit helicopter operators from carrying passengers on offshore flights within the UK sector, whose body size, including required safety and survival equipment, is incompatible with the nearest push-out window emergency exit.
All passengers are initially marked as XBR untill they have been measured. It is important that all passengers are measured, because helicopters have only a few seats available for XBR passengers. A passenger is Extra Broad if the shoulderwidth measures greater then 22”(55.9cm) and can sit only on the designated seats to make sure they fit through the escape windows in case of emergency. This action also influences cross border flights from the Dutch sector. Given the fast approaching deadline, Peterson has decided to train personnel in order to offer customers the opportunity to measure the shoulderwidth of their personnel.

This is only a guideline. Be aware that there can be additional requirements per company.

Since 1st of January 2015, the EBS lifejackets are in use for Spirit Energy. From 1st of May 2015, the other operators will start using the EBS as well! Be aware that an EBS training will be required then.
